GearKit keeps your gear, its jobs and its history on your phone. There is no account, no server and no cloud of ours, and the apps collect no usage statistics and send no crash reports. We could not read your gear list even if we wanted to.
What the app stores
Your items and components, their jobs and intervals, service and usage history, notes, next-service notes, purchase dates and settings are stored only on your device. GearKit never uploads them anywhere.
No analytics, no crash reports
The apps contain no analytics, advertising or crash-reporting code. Nothing about how you use GearKit is counted or sent to us or to anyone else.
Your phone’s own backup
If your phone backs itself up (iCloud Backup on iPhone, Google’s backup on Android), that backup can include GearKit’s data, stored under your account with Apple or Google on their terms. The one-time unlock is never part of it; the store restores that.
Purchases
The one-time unlock is processed by the App Store or Google Play. Apple or Google handle the payment and tell the app that the purchase happened; we never see your payment details. The unlock is remembered on your device and can be restored through the store.
Reminders
Reminders are worked out and scheduled entirely on your phone. Nothing about your gear leaves the device to make them.
Calendar
Calendar events are created only when you add them. The app hands the event to your phone’s calendar editor and does not read your calendar.
Siri, Shortcuts, widgets and tiles
Widgets, Control Center controls, Quick Settings tiles, launcher shortcuts and Shortcuts actions run on your device against GearKit’s own data. When you speak to Siri, Apple processes the request under its own privacy terms; GearKit receives only the action, such as which job to mark done.
Backups
Backups are ZIP files of plain CSV that you create yourself and save wherever you choose. The app never uploads them.
Share links
When you share an item’s schedule, the schedule itself travels inside the link, in the part after the #, which browsers never send to any server. This website reads it entirely on the recipient’s device; nothing from a share link is stored or measured. A share link is like a message: send it to people you trust.
