Ski and snowboard wax interval
Makers count days on snow; your calendar counts weeks. Say how much you ski or ride in a season and get the wax and edge intervals as dates, plus the storage wax at the end.
Your schedule
Wax the skis every 5 weeks
- 1Storage-wax skisEvery 1 year · By date · OptionalSwix says iron a layer of glide wax on before summer and leave it unscraped; mark it done at the end of the season.
- 2Touch up edgesEvery 2 months · By dateSalomon says a diamond-stone touch-up every 10 days to two weeks on snow is enough where you don’t hit rocks: every 2 months for you.
- 1Wax skisEvery 5 weeks · By dateSalomon says ideally tune skis after every five days on snow; at 1 day on snow a week in season that’s every 5 weeks.
- The countdowns run by the calendar, so out of season they keep going: storage-wax at the end and mark the jobs done, and they start fresh.
- Hit rocks? Touch up the edges sooner; Salomon’s figure assumes you don’t.
Keep it on a countdown
GearKit counts down to every job and reminds you before it’s due. Open this schedule in the app and it adds the item with every job above.
Countdowns start the day you add it. Did a job recently? Mark it done in GearKit and set Completed on to that day.
Add at least one job with a title to make a link.

How it works
Makers count days on snow. Burton: wax a snowboard at least every three days on snow, plus at the start and end of the season. Salomon: ideally tune skis after every five days, and touch up the edges with diamond stones every 10 days to two weeks where you don’t hit rocks. Ski shops say every 4 to 6 days for wax; on icy or man-made snow this uses 4.
Your days on snow divided by the season’s weeks give days a week; each interval is the days-on-snow figure at that pace, as a calendar step GearKit shows. Swix’s storage wax closes the season.
