Battery storage helper
A lithium battery left full or flat in a drawer wears out faster than one in use. Pick the device and get the makers’ storage level, the temperature, and a reminder that pauses while you use it.
Your schedule
Top it up every 3 months in storage
- 1Fully charge flight batteriesEvery 3 months · By dateDJI says fully charge each flight battery at least once every three months; the Mavic 2 guide adds a full discharge too.
- Store it at about 40–60 % (DJI batteries drop to it on their own after 9–10 idle days), at 22–28 °C for storage longer than three months, never below −10 °C or above 45 °C (DJI).
- In GearKit this is an only while stored job: it pauses while the item is a daily driver and runs once you put it away.
- Don’t store a DJI battery empty for long: it can over-discharge and be damaged beyond repair. Before a flight, bring it out of storage and charge it fully.
- Battery University (independent): a lithium-cobalt cell kept a year at 25 °C keeps about 96 % of its capacity at 40 % charge, but about 80 % kept full.
Keep it on a countdown
GearKit counts down to every job and reminds you before it’s due. Open this schedule in the app and it adds the item with every job above.
Countdowns start the day you add it. Did a job recently? Mark it done in GearKit and set Completed on to that day.
Add at least one job with a title to make a link.
Built on this page. The schedule travels in the part of the link after the #, and our server never sees it.
How it works
Each device takes its maker’s own storage advice: the charge level, the temperature, and how often to top up. Where a maker gives the level but no interval (Bosch tools, DeWalt, Bosch and Shimano e-bikes, LiPo packs), the interval is the closest maker figure or our suggestion, and the why says which.
Lithium batteries age fastest full and hot, and can fall into a deep discharge they don’t recover from when left empty; a partial charge in a cool room is the common thread. DeWalt is the one maker that says store full.
